Homemade Smokey Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Kangaroo Island garlic granules
  • ½ tsp cracked black pepper
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Method

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a heavy-based saucepan and whisk together. Place over medium heat, bring to the boil, then reduce heat to a gentle simmer.
  2. Allow to simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring every few minutes, to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
