Cuisine: Italian Serves: 4
Preparation: 10 Mins Cooking: 30 Mins
Ingredients
- 1 Packet Barossa Fine Foods Italian meatballs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ brown onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2x (400g) cans chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup dry rosé
- 1 tsp sugar
- Sea salt, to taste
- Black pepper
- Tagliatelle
- Fresh basil leaves, to serve
Method
- Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook the meatballs until browned on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Using the same pan, add the onion and garlic and cook over medium heat until softened. Add the chopped tomatoes, rosé and sugar. Reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce has slightly reduced.
- Return the meatballs to the pan and simmer for approximately 10 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened. Taste and season with sea salt and cracked black pepper.
- Meanwhile, cook the tagliatelle according to packet instructions. Drain well.
- Serve the pasta topped with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and cracked black pepper.
Cook’s Tip
- Beef or chicken stock can be substituted for the rosé in the tomato sauce.
- We’ve used tagliatelle in this recipe, but spaghetti, fettuccine or penne would also work well.
